 | Social responsibility |
For Krediidipank, community service means more than just sponsoring different sports events or cultural events. Throughout its history and during the society’s different stages of development, Krediidipank has always felt the need to have its say in issues concerning Estonian life, supporting ventures associated with Krediidipank’s values and sponsoring projects which strengthen Krediidipank’s good reputation as a small but reliable, stable and friendly service provider.
Estonia is not Tallinn alone. Based on this simple principle, we search for a partnership with project leaders whose main focus or end-result is centred outside the major cities. We are also interested in ventures which might not resonate that much in the society but which are rewarding to the project manager and the target group, as well as the employees of Krediidipank.
The Rein Otsason Foundation
In 2006, the Rein Otsason Foundation was established in memory of and in continuation of the life work of the founder of Eesti Krediidipank, one of the most renowned persons in Estonian finance and banking, scientist and politician Rein Otsason. The aim of the foundation is to conduct charity work and sponsor the studies and scientific research of young people in the field of economy. The foundation sponsors ventures which contribute to the general well-being and economic development in Estonia.
In the birthday anniversary of Rein Otsason will the Foundation award scholarships to young people, studying in the master's or doctoral programmes of Estonian universities in the field of finance or economy, with the aim of supporting their studies and scientific research. Under the established conditions, applicants may study and conduct research in Estonia or abroad.
The biggest project supported by the Rein Otsason Foundation in 2009 was the partial funding of the construction of buildings in SOS Children’s Village in Põltsamaa. The concept of the SOS Children’s Village is to offer parentless children a chance to lead a life as similar to ordinary children as possible. This means the establishment of a family consisting of several parentless children and mother-father selected from among the volunteers on the basis of a competition. This family will then be granted a cosy and comfortable family house, such as the one constructed in Põltsamaa. A total of three houses were built, with the Rein Otsason Foundation contributing over 420,000 kroons.
In addition to the above, the Rein Otsason Foundation supported the “Dr Clown for the good of the children!” charity project of MTÜ Clinic Clowns Eesti, serving as the gold-nosed partner. The project is designed for hospitalised children. The fun and laughter raise the spirits. It is a well-known fact that good spirits and laughs help jump start the recovery process.
Krediidipank senses a distinct connection between the development of the society and the growth of the organisation. As a socially responsible company, we will continue laying importance in supporting young scientists in their efforts, as well as help out the less well-off members of the society. The Rein Otsason Foundation has a distinct and remarkable role.
